Position Summary The Accounting Manager will be the third hire at Blue Moon Strategies and the first role specialized in accounting. This position reports to Blue Moon’s Founder & Principal. The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for Blue Moon’s clients. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all tasks necessary to accomplish client’s AP, AR, and bookkeeping needs. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for financial management systems establishment, with oversight of Blue Moon Founder and in consultation with clients. A successful applicant will be self-driven, able to problem-solve, have excellent attention to detail, be able to multi-task well, have strong verbal and written skills, and be able to use various financial technology applications, as listed below.
Responsibilities Accounting Operations
Manage the establishment, documentation, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence and consistency.
Manage accounts payable processing using various software systems, depending on the client. Includes vendor setup and invoice entry.
Review transactions for accuracy, coding, and compliance with policies in QuickBooks Online.
Record and reconcile contributions across systems (QuickBooks, various online fundraising platforms). Maintain restricted revenue trackers.
Utilize technology applications, including Ramp, QuickBooks Online, LiveFlow, Wrike, and Google Sheets for payments and record keeping
Liaise with outside accounting (990 and audit) and compliance vendors as well as clients’ financial institutions
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Manage month-end and year-end close and reporting processes, including bank reconciliation, to ensure timely and accurate financial results
Lead audit preparations and manage the ongoing relationship with auditors to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
Coordinate annual audit and tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Manage annual 1099 preparation and filing
Maintain accurate and up to date records, billings and receipts for all contracts, grants, vendors, etc. including restricted funds and donations in accordance with Document Retention Policies
Systems Manager
Establish budget templates for Blue Moon clients using QBO and Liveflow integrations to Google Sheets
Conduct trainings for Blue Moon staff and clients on completing budget templates
Assist with setup of new financial accounts and systems as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
Five years of AP, AR, and bookkeeping experience required
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
Sophisticated understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial compliance.
Experience with QBO is required. Experience Ramp, LiveFlow, and Google Sheets, and other new fin-tech systems is preferred.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience in non-profit accounting standards and generally accepted accounting practices, including grants management.
Experience working with 501(c)(4) entities is required and experience working with PAC (527) organizations is preferred.

This is a fully-remote position. Salary range is $75,000 - $90,000, negotiable and commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package includes health, dental, and vision coverage with no employee contribution; 4 weeks vacation leave, 2 weeks of sick leave, and 10 federal holidays; eligible for parental leave upon twelve months’ employment, 401(K) with 3% fixed contribution and up to 3% match.
