The Development Director is responsible for coordinating and implementing fundraising strategies. This position oversees strategies for increased revenue through grant writing, donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition. Prior experience in fundraising is required, with an emphasis on strong relationships. The position must follow all center policies and state child care center regulationsThe Development Director provides general support to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Program Director, and Site Director as necessary and assigned.


Key Responsibilities

Major Donor Fundraising

The Development Director will lead the fundraising efforts of the organization in conjunction with the Executive Director, secure new and renewed gifts. Track and report on progress to budget goals to ED and Board of Directors, including grants, gifts, and pledges.

This position will serve as the primary relationship manager for prospective donors for operational support and growth campaigns by developing and implementing a written donor strategy. The Development Director will communicate with current and prospective donors through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings, and written communication strategies such as newsletters and social media; and ensure that each major donor and prospect has a thoughtful design and timeline for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Event planning in collaboration with the leadership team and accurate record keeping and reporting using various software products will also be expected of the Development Director.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

This position will require a minimum of a bachelor's degree for consideration with preference for a master's degree. Additionally, the following skills are also required.

  • 3 years of direct fundraising experience
  • Excellent skills in accounting software and Excel
  • Strong orientation in funding models with multiple revenue streams
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision, with initiative and discretion
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must clear full background check and pass a health screening
