Description

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven individual to serve as our Treasurer. This volunteer will oversee the financial health of our organization, ensuring transparency, compliance, and strategic stewardship of our resources. You’ll be a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and will work with program delivery partners to enable our mission through sound financial practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting, implementing best practices for sound financial governance
• Oversee budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with leadership and program delivery partners
• In coordination with contracted CPA and bookkeeper:
  • Maintain accurate financial records 
  • Manage bank accounts, reconcile statements, and track income/expenses to ensure they are in accordance with the approved annual budget and grant requirements
  • Prepare financial reports for the Board on a monthly and annual basis or at other times as requested by the Board
  • File annual tax documents (e.g., IRS Form 990) 
• Assist with grant tracking, donor contributions, and fundraising accounting
• Ensures long term archival needs of HFR financial information
• Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person)

Qualifications

• Experience in business accounting, finance, or nonprofit financial management
• Understanding of nonprofit governance, compliance and reporting requirements
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
• Passion for youth development, STEM, or education is a plus!
