Position Summary
FCAO seeks a passionate and experienced Development Director to lead our fundraising and development initiatives. This individual will be instrumental in building the financial capacity required to sustain and expand our vital programs and support services. The Development Director will design and execute an annual comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure the resources needed to fulfill our mission. This is a unique opportunity for a driven professional to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of children and families throughout Oklahoma.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage a multi-faceted annual fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual giving campaigns.
- Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong, lasting relationships with a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Identify, solicit, and steward new funding sources to grow our donor base.
- Grant Management: Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, including researching grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, managing application submissions, and ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements for awarded grants.
- Event Management: Plan, manage, and execute all fundraising events, including the annual gala, new innovative fundraisers, and intimate donor gatherings, to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director to align development efforts with organizational goals and to engage board members in fundraising activities.
- Reporting: Track all fundraising activities, monitor progress toward goals, and provide regular, detailed reports to the Executive Director.
- Community and Communications Management: Lead all communication efforts with the community, media, and news outlets, including the preparation and dissemination of press releases.
- Continually identify and pursue opportunities to actively engage with the broader community to increase both financial support and stakeholder involvement.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of securing significant funds from diverse sources.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
- Verifiable experience in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling case for support and inspire action.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build rapport and relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for the mission of the Foster Care and Adoptive Association of Oklahoma and a commitment to supporting children and families involved in the foster care system.
- Proficiency in donor management software.
